RIP Zachary Kertis

One of my good friends, Stephen, just lost his little brother. Zachary was only 18-years-old. Today is his funeral. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once, but felt honored to see the love that so many others have for him. The visitation was packed with friends and family. All of his close friends wearing superman shirts in his honor (a shirt he wore often). If you have a moment please check out his facebook page.

The one thing that I’ve been really trying to push myself to do is use lights more. I’m such a novice when it comes to incorporating lights in portrait work. Usually I find a nice window and leave it at that, but I really want to be able to control the light when need be. I feel like Dallas is where they first forced me to use strobes. In Concord I was able to use them, but never really pushed myself to experiment. Now I’m starting to. Here’s some recent portraits.

Elaine Morgan finally got her new family member tonight. She was suppose to pick her up in Haiti on the 17th, but due to the recent earthquake that changed everything. They didn’t even know if she had survived the quake. Luckily Djoude wasn’t hurt and eventually made it home. This is the family’s first time with their new daughter in her new home. She really got a kick out of the water faucet.

Got to shoot my first hockey game of the season since my time in Concord. It was an outdoor arena so I’m still waiting for the feeling to return to my hands and feet. Here’s a few from the game.
